A Disturbance in the Force

By now I’m sure you’ve heard that George Lucas has sold Star Wars to Disney. My initial reaction:

How could this be!? What was he thinking!? Who knows what travesties Disney will wreak with it now! Will they fluffify it beyond recognition? I hope not. Granted, I am not as big a Star Wars fan as I used to be (read all about it here), but there are still standards, still lines that must not be crossed. Will those lines be ignored in Episode VII?

Well, perhaps not. I have heard that Episodes VII, VIII, and IX will pick up the story after the Empire’s collapse, and there’s a very good chance we will be seeing the return of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo (which, of course, means Chewbacca’s return as well). This is promising because those characters were such a big part of the original movies, and their interactions were fun to watch. So maybe it’s not the end of the world…but I still have my doubts.
