A History Channel Miniseries on the Bible? How Good Can This Really Be?

Quite good, actually–at least going by the first three episodes. Okay, so 98% of the cast sports British accents (my favorite is Noah the Scotsman), but the cinematography is amazing. Their version of the parting of the Red Sea is jaw-dropping. And their angels aren’t your stereotypical white-clad, harp-toting variety. No, these angels wear armor and carry BIG swords. And they’re apparently well-versed in kung fu.

I think my favorite part, though, is that they aren’t trying to rationalize everything that happened in the Bible. With this being the History Channel, it would have been very easy to offer a more “realistic” portrayal or to give their own version of what “really” happened in the stories. But they’re not. And I give them a lot of credit for it.

Although I’ve only seen the first three episodes, I’m really looking forward to what the rest of the show has to offer…even if it comes under the guise of British-sounding Hebrews.
